B&B La Tartaruga is on the Island of St. Peter, southwest of Sardinia, near La Caletta, which is a five minute walk away and is the only beach of the island where you can enjoy sunsets over the Mediterranean sea.
The coast is surrounded by white and pink beaches, inlets, caves, rocks and magnificent cliffs where the waters are always crystal clear.
This island is also the main nesting colony for the Queens’s Hawk, Corsica Seagull, and in the salt flats live the famous Pink Flamingos.
The cleanest waters in all of the Mediterranean are to be found here. It is rich in seafood and the much prized tuna is the center of a famous gathering during the month of May called Girotonno (June 2nd to the 5th). International chefs compete to celebrate an ancient tradition connected to the Tonnara: four days of cultural events between music and shows that attract visitors from all over the world.
Another must see is the popular “Sagra del Couscous” (April 28th - May 1st) and the celebration of the patron saints St. Carlo and St. Pietro (June 29th).
The only village of the whole island is Carloforte. Here you can hear people still talking the dialect from Genova and the houses, squares, narrow streets (carrugi) and harbor recall the villages and cities from Liguria.
